Estimating the Cost of Your Project.................
How much does it cost to make a CD? This, of course, would be
our most “Frequently Asked Question” and one that we
have found exceedingly difficult to answer with any accuracy because
of the many factors involved. What we try to ascertain is if your
desired result can fit in your proposed budget. These are some
of the questions that we would ask you to determine this:
- What is the intention of the project? Will this be a finished,
commercial CD or will it be used primarily as a “demo”
to get bookings, etc.?
- What is your time deadline for finishing the tracking and mixing?
- How many songs, or more importantly, how many minutes of total
material will you be recording?
- What type of instrumentation, how many musicians, i.e. how many
separate tracks will be recorded for each song?
- Will tracks be recorded one at a time, or will a band be brought
in at one time for the basic tracks with some overdubbing?
- And the other musicians involved in your project....are they
well rehearsed? Are they sure of the arrangements and what they
will be playing or singing? Is everyone comfortable playing to
a metronome? Will everyone be available for sessions in the proposed
timeframe?
